Sliding Seat Rowing Unit

A few years ago, Denman Marine approached a local firm to produce a Sliding Seat Rowing Unit that could be manufactured in Tasmania for the Australian market. The brief was to produce a rowing unit of high quality that could be “dropped in” to all of Chesapeake Light Crafts designs that are capable of accommodating a sliding seat rowing unit.

We are proud to have provided this great product together with Rowfit International to many satisfied customers. Rowfit International has been involved with the rowing sport for over 20 years, with experience in producing Olympic level components. Some of the components in our sliding seat rowing unit have in fact been used by Olympic level rowers.

This new unit shares some features with other brands available but has been built with quality and longevity in mind. This is a light weight, yet robust piece of gear with a double track for added stability and support, foam covered seat for more comfort, fully adjustable foot braces with neoprene lined straps with a clear anodized finish.

Please note, these units can require approximately five weeks for manufacture depending on whether they are in stock or not. Additionally, black anodised is now the default supplied unit – the clear anodised unit is now a special order only item, which may take longer to manufacture and incur a surcharge (contact us for details if interested). We recommend the Croker S6 Trainer with Macon blades and adjustable grips for use with the rowing unit as we have found them to be one of the best manufacturers of performance oars in Australia. The S6 Trainers are made from fiberglass which is more forgiving and durable when compared to the stiffer carbon shafts but slightly heavier. They are still relatively light at 1800grams but offer a little more robustness and a small amount of flex which is often desirable in open water rowing.  These shafts are used by schools and clubs Australia wide.
